Explained: Al Nassr’s mega offer for Cristiano Ronaldo

The Portuguese superstar has been a free agent since parting ways with Man Utd last month.

Saudi Arabian side Al Nassr are waiting for Cristiano Ronaldo’s response to their transfer offer.

Widespread reports in English media claim Ronaldo hopes to continue his career in a Champions League club. However, as of now, there hasn’t been concrete interest from any European side.

Ronaldo’s high salary demands are the main reason why most non-elite sides are unable to hire him. But as a Saudi Pro club, Al Nassr’s financial resources might allow them to pull off a massive transfer for CR7.

What’s Al Nassr’s plan for Ronaldo?

Al Nassr are reportedly keen to sign Ronaldo on a three-year contract. However, they are also interested in keeping the Portugal international beyond his initial contract by offering him a role in the club’s hierarchy.

Al Nassr hope to work with Ronaldo until 2030 as they aim to claim their first-ever AFC Champions League title.

Ronaldo’s salary at Al Nassr

The most interesting part of Al Nassr’s proposal is their salary offer to Ronaldo.

The Saudi giants are offering £250m for three years, which would make CR7 the highest-earning player in the world.

By joining Al Nassr, Ronaldo easily overtakes Mbappe, who earns around €1m per week at Paris Saint-Germain.

Will Ronaldo accept Al Nassr’s offer?

Only a few days after his heartbreaking farewell with the World Cup, Ronaldo returned to individual training at Real Madrid’s training ground.

The 37-year-old’s ambition to continue at the highest level is not a secret. But his search for a new club, which started in the summer, hasn’t convinced a European side to sign him.

A possible move to Al Nassr will only materialize if the 37-year-old doesn’t receive any offers until the end of the January transfer window.

As of now, Chelsea are the only Champions League side that might still consider a move for CR7.

Todd Boehly reportedly wanted to sign Ronaldo in the summer, but Thomas Tuchel voted against the move. Let’s see if the Blues would come up with a new offer for the five-time Ballon d’Or winner as their goalscoring issues continue under Graham Potter.
