Carlo Ancelotti offers transfer advise to Ronaldo ahead of winter move

The Portuguese superstar has become a free agent since leaving Manchester United earlier this winter.

Carlo Ancelotti believes Cristiano Ronaldo should avoid a move to Saudi Arabia this January.

Manchester United terminated Ronaldo’s contract after an explosive interview just before the 2022 World Cup.

The 37-year-old has returned to Real Madrid’s training ground, preparing to resume his club career by joining a new club in January.

Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr has emerged as Ronaldo’s most likely destination. But Ancelotti believes his former player can’t satisfy his ambitions at the Saudi Pro League.

“I don’t know what he will do in his future,” the Real Madrid boss told Radio Anch’io Sport. “He is still very competitive, he wants to compete at the highest level, and I don’t think the Arab world can be suitable for him in this regard.”

Not Ronaldo or Messi? Nigerian legend names the real GOAT

Sunday Oliseh named his pick for the ongoing GOAT debate after the 2022 FIFA World Cup final between Argentina and France.

Pele is an ‘inspiration’ who edges Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi as the greatest player of all time, according to Sunday Oliseh.

Oliseh, a Nigerian Olympic Gold medalist and AFCON winner, backed Pele in the GOAT debate during an interview with Arise TV on Monday, a day after Messi’s maiden World Cup title.

The 48-year-old argues no player can rival the three World Cup titles won by Pele, who he believes has inspired the current generation of footballers.

“This is what everybody is getting inspiration from to excel in their football careers,” said Oliseh as quoted in Vanguard.

“His name is Pele. He is the greatest player of All Time, G.O.A.T. You cannot win three World Cups, and anybody will want to compete with you. I know

CR7 on target: Cristiano Ronaldo’s best goals for Portugal

After Cristiano Ronaldo’s 2022 World Cup came to a disappointing end against Morocco, the tournament served as yet another reminder that the 37-year-old has still got it.

With a record 196 international caps to his name, here are Ronaldo’s best goals in a Portugal shirt.

Portugal 3-3 Spain (June 15, 2018)

It would be difficult to create a list of Ronaldo’s most impressive goals without mentioning a free-kick. The 2018 World Cup hosted a crunch opening match between Portugal and Spain in Group B, and the Selecao dos Quinas found themselves 3-2 down with minutes remaining. This was despite Ronaldo’s best efforts, as he had already struck twice to keep his side in the game. Then, in the 88th minute, CR7 stepped up to strike a blistering free-kick into the top corner past David De Gea, to level the scores and ensure Portugal didn’t get off to a losing

Ronaldo could retire after end of World Cup dream, says ex-teammate

The Portugal captain’s future is more uncertain than ever ahead of the January transfer window.

Patrice Evra wouldn’t be surprised if his former Manchester United teammate Cristiano Ronaldo retired.

The 37-year-old forward is currently without a club after leaving United at the end of last month, and following Portugal’s quarter-final defeat last week, his hopes of winning the World Cup appear to be over, unless he stays on for the next tournament in 2026.

“I don’t know if Ronaldo will retire because sometimes when you’ve got all those critics, especially at the end of your career, you’re like ‘okay, I think it’s time to stop’,” Evra told Sky Sports

Portugal confirm Fernando Santos exit after Ronaldo saga

A quarter-final defeat against Morocco ended Santos’ era at Portugal.

Fernando Santos leaves the Portuguese national team after his side’s underwhelming displays in the 2022 World Cup.

Santos came under fire for not starting Cristiano Ronaldo in Portugal’s last two games in the tournament.

Morocco stunned Santos’ men with a 1-0 win to end their World Cup campaign in the quarter-finals. The 68-year-old boss ends his successful stint as Portugal’s manager, which saw them claim the European Championship in 2016.

A statement from the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) reads: “The FPF and Fernando Santos agreed to end the highly successful journey that began in September 2014.
